Introduction

The PMHA’s Centralised Data Management Service (CDMS) was setup by the PMHA's antecedent, the Strategic Planning Group for Private Psychiatric Services (SPGPPS), under the auspices of the Australian Medical Association in June 2001. The CDMS is now jointly funded by the APHA, AHIA and DoHA under an Agreement with the AMA, with the PMHA responsible for oversight of the operations of the CDMS.

The CDMS performs two main roles. First, the CDMS assists participating Hospitals with their implementation of their National Model for the Collection and Analysis of a Minimum Data Set with Outcome Measures. Second, the CDMS provides Hospitals and Health Funds with a data management service that routinely prepares and distributes Standard Reports to assist them in the monitoring, evaluation and improvement of the quality of care.
